About us
We are a community church of diverse ages and cultures. As well as regular Sunday worship services much of St Mary’s ministry is lived out through our weekly community programmes and grass-roots initiatives. We also host one-off events that seek to bring the local community together to foster strong relationships and show the love of Jesus Christ for this special place.

During term time we host bible studies, a men’s support group, a community tool library, a community kapa haka group and youth group.
We also have a Maara Kai (food garden) on site which provides fresh vegetables to feed whānau connected to the church and supply our kitchen with food for our many free meals which are delivered as a part of our weekly programmes. Please check these out under Events for times and contact us if you are interested in more information.
As a local Christian congregation we seek to honour and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi, build strong relationships with Tāngata whenua in our area and promote the use of Te Reo Māori as the first language of this nation. To better understand our position please read A statement for the Gospel Bicentenary.

We practice the traditional Christian faith handed down through the Apostles and laid out in Holy Scripture
We regularly affirm the historic statements of faith such as the Nicene Creed, and as an Anglican affiliated church we adhere to the historic formularies which include the 39 Articles of Religion written by Thomas Cranmer.
Our mission is neatly summed up by the Five Marks of Mission which were universally agreed to by the world-wide Anglican Communion.
The Five Marks of Mission:
- The mission of the Church is the mission of Christ
- To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
- To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
- To respond to human need by loving service
- To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation
- To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth
